Wales is widely known for it’s beautiful countryside of lush green hills and valleys but the country also features some of the finest coastline in the United Kingdom. Found on the west coast of Wales is the small, but lively, town of Aberystwyth which looks out across the Irish Sea and is backed by three gorgeous Welsh hills. The town’s harbour is fed by the confluence of the rivers Ystwyth and Rheidol and is extremely popular for water sports such as surfing.
Though the two beaches at Aberystwyth can be described as “gritty” they are extremely popular, especially with surfers and lovers of other water sports. Popular since Victorian times the wide promenade features mainly Victorian and Edwardian buildings which help create a splendid frontage.
In’72 Aberystwyth University, now known as the University of Wales, was established. Today the university attracts around 8,000 students which increase the towns population (of about 16,000) by a half during the University term time.
To meet the demands of the local, student and tourist population you will find that dotted about the town are countless bars, cafes and pubs. Ranging from the local type pub to the flash town centre bars there is plenty to choose from but few establishments rival Harry’s Hotel And Bistro for atmosphere.
Harry’s Hotel is centrally located and is well known throughout the town as having a fantastic Irish Bar (which can sometimes act as a venue for live music). Recently refurbished the hotel now has an open plan kitchen with a Modern Bistro style menu.
Although Harry’s is centrally located the Aberystwyth one way system can confuse some folk. As long as you remember that the hotel is located on North Parade on the left hand side of the road on the one-way system you shouldn’t have any difficulty finding it.
Harry’s Hotel is a great place to stay as a number of the town’s finest visitor attractions are only a short distance away and Aberystwyth Railway Station is only around the corner (as is the town’s Tourist Information Centre). The highly affordable rooms are both light and spacious and most feature a seating area (sofa or the likes), flat screen satellite television, Wi-Fi Internet and the usual facilities such as tea/coffee making facilities as well as a laundry/valet Service.
One of the great things about Aberystwyth is that it is within easy distance of places such as Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff (roughly two to three hours away but a pleasant drive). So, if you are visiting any of these cities on business you may wish to spend the weekend relaxing at Harry’s Hotel And Bistro. Who says you can’t mix business with pleasure?
